On the eve of Amelia’s 21st birthday

I used an app to countdown to Amelia’s birthday this year. In less than 24 hours my daughter will be 21 years old. Truly legal and grown up in the eyes of the laws of the state of New York....but not in mine. She will forever be a kid, toting a binky, hair in pigtails and being Amelia. 3,675 Miles

It is 3,675 miles from my front porch to Hamm, Germany, plus or minus a mile or two, to the exact location where my son Jack is at this very moment. Here is what I received via text this morning: Let me explain: On Christmas night we packed Jack for the trip to visit friends in Hamm, Germany.  Jack has remained close to the students that visited us here in October of 2016.  What a wonderful experience for Jack, Caroline…

What you need and what to do to make the Polenta: I love the basic…

Grilled Scallops with Peach & Corn Salsa

It is still summertime even though the sky stays darker in the morning and sets a bit earlier in the evening. The temperatures hover around 80 degrees in Upstate New York so the desire for a light dinner or appetizer is still present.  This is a wonderfully healthy and light option for dinner or an appetizer and served with Prosecco or a Riesling is spectacular.   You can grill a baguette to accompany the dish. What you need: 1 pound of…
